If you’re craving authentic Mexican flavors right in the heart of San Antonio’s northeast side, Fidelo's Mexican Restaurant at 10929 Nacogdoches Rd is a must-visit destination. This charming eatery offers a genuine taste of Tex-Mex with a focus on homemade quality and hearty portions that keep locals coming back for more.
Step inside Fidelo’s and you’ll immediately notice the warm, unpretentious atmosphere that makes it feel like a neighborhood favorite rather than just another chain. The aromas alone—freshly made flour and corn tortillas, sizzling meats, and slow-simmered sauces—will awaken your appetite. Their signature breakfast tacos are a beloved stand-out, bursting with vibrant flavors from fillings like barbacoa and bacon & egg wrapped in their renowned homemade tortillas. Whether you choose the Chilaquiles Verdes or Rojos, the Huevos Rancheros with Barbacoa, or indulge in their Carne Guisada Plate, every bite speaks volumes about their commitment to traditional recipes crafted with care.
Lunch here is equally satisfying. Try the Gordita Plate, featuring two handmade gorditas loaded with your choice of shredded chicken or ground beef, accompanied by savory rice, refried beans, and fresh tortillas. Or dive into their Chile Relleno Plate—poblano peppers stuffed with cheese or beef, bathed in spicy ranchera sauce. For a lighter option, their guacamole and fajita salads provide fresh, crisp, and creamy textures that balance perfectly with the heartier dishes.
Complement your meal with a refreshing Mexican Coke or a chilled glass of Topo Chico, and don't miss the chips and salsa, which are remarkably fresh and addictive—ideal for sharing. Loyal customers rave about the freshness of the food and especially praise the “best tortillas hands down,” which truly elevate every dish.
While the restaurant's straightforward charm occasionally means you might need to ask for utensils or tortillas (as one visitor noted), the friendly service and unmatched flavors more than make up for these small quirks. The locals adore Fidelo’s not only for its delicious food but for its authentic, no-frills approach to Tex-Mex classics—true comfort food served with a smile.
If you plan a weekend visit, brace for a potential wait; regulars agree it’s a “gauntlet” on Sundays but wholeheartedly confirm it’s “oh so worth it!” From breakfast to dinner, Fidelo’s Mexican Restaurant is a vibrant celebration of San Antonio’s rich culinary heritage—flavor-packed, welcoming, and delightfully satisfying.

For as long as we lived on the north east side of town. You wouldn’t know this restaurant existed unless you passed by. They have specials Monday thru Friday. $8.46 a special with a tea included. The food was great, and fresh. Tortillas were homemade, the bean and cheese tacos are big compared to other places I have been too. Personally I would of like the pancakes more fluffy , but they were still delicious. The staff was so nice didn’t have any problems and we did not have to wait long for our food . I will be returning.
Delicious Mexican food while providing quick, friendly service at a great price. Best tortillas hands down! All the food is really good and we love their tortilla soup.
Good Little restaurant to eat at. Today was meh, after I got my food, I had to ask for utensils, and my tortillas. After that, no one came by again. And they were fully staffed.
Delicious Breakfast Tacos, Affordable Lunch Plates and to die for Barbacoa! This place is quintessential classic San Antonio-style Tex-Mex!!! You can't go wrong. Parking lot is a gauntlet, and plan ahead to wait on Sunday. BUT OH SO WORTH IT!!!
The Best Restaurant In Town Fidelos Mexican Restaurant !!!! The restaurant is very good and friendly waitress. No one comes close to the food with their flavor,,as I said the best restaurant in town Thanks
First time in, but I was on my way home from a bike ride at McAlister Park. Ordered two breakfast tacos, one bean/egg/cheese and one potato/egg/cheese. Had planned on ordering a soda or energy drink as wet, but they didn't have a lower sugar option so I passed on that. Tacos were a bit on the pricey side, but they were good size tacos and very tasty, so I don't regret paying more. I ordered to-go, but it seems like a decent place to sit and eat. They had a couple of old men with guitars playing some nice music, and I very much enjoyed that. So even though it wasn't the cheapest tacos, they were delicious and ready quickly, so I'll definitely be back.
Order around 10am and tacos took them 3-5 mins and fast checkout, order Bean & Cheese w/bacon, (strip) Bacon & Egg, and Carne Guisada w/cheese. They were almost as gone as it took to get my order that good. Chile they have the green one not to hot but enough to still have a good lingering spice to the taste buds.
